iLevel’s Insite Server 3.0 is a good tool for any web developer,
no matter the size of your site or if you are freelance or corporate. This software cleverly combines the
functionality of an FTP client and the usability of an html graphical
interface editor. The major advantage of Insite Server is the ability
to edit your corporate or any website from any browser, anywhere.
Providing you have a broadband or lease line connection to the
internet, trying to use the package on a 56K dial up account is very
slow and tedious. Also unlike traditional software, web software does not rely on
computer hardware specifications, just the latest version of your web
browser.
Set up
The Insite Server software can be installed and set up automatically
through a quick, user-friendly and easy to use Wizard. This wizard does all
setting up and configuration of the IIS web server and all system-related
settings seamlessly.
Functionality and usability
Insite Server 3.0 provides a vast array of functions, there is all the
normal functionality you would expect from a standard html editor and
more.
including the ability to switch between the design, html and preview
view’s easily and then preview your pages in a browser.
The speed button positioning on the tool bars is good easy to use,
although there are no drop down menus as part of the tool bars.
There are some nice features that have been added to the software to
make the developers life easier. A nice Drag and drop function from
other Windows and office applications are very useful and can save
time. Hand-coders can use the text box editor function and there is
also a auto checking facility that looks for errors in your code.
Anybody who has every used any internet browser knows they can and do
crash, this is very tedious if you have been working on a piece of
code for a long time. iLevel have done a good job at dealing with this
problem and the minimum work, if any work is lost when this problem occurs.
I was surprised to learn when using the software, the user can only
work on one page at a time and therefore only edit one page at a time,
this can be frustrating for the the more demanding user.
Insite Server 3.0 Supports both JavaScript and ASP and with added
features it can fully support XML.
Security
iLevel software has ensured data integrity by having encrypted
communications between the users browser and the server during user
authentication. Once stored on the server, critical user-data is
encrypted using a lossy-bit algorithm. SSL can be also applied to the
staging server environment, thus encrypting all communication between
browser and server.

Standard software package plus XML functionality - £1095 (first 5
