Portfolio News: New
Outsourcing Concept

Over
the past few years, we have seen the practice of outsourcing go from an
“unwanted menace” to a “must-have service.” We have also witnessed
companies based in India, a country with 500,000 programmers costing 10%
of their European counterparts, develop into world class software
offshore development companies.
Cost rationalizations, competitive pressures and globalization have all
caused company executives in the West to look at the outsourcing of IT,
business processes and customer services. Not surprisingly, India’s
software industry grew 40 percent last year even as IT spending shrunk
worldwide.
London-based Ariadne Capital, has created a new concept helps European companies “arbitrage” its cost
and skill sets to a subsidiary in India.
This is a next generation concept of outsourcing that allows companies to get all the benefits of
outsourcing – reduce people costs and overheads, attract quality skills
at low attrition and scale resources – without losing the
accountability, quality control and corporate culture that are often
sacrificed when dealing with third party outsourcers.
|
Ariadne Capital is working with a carefully selected group of partners to create
offshore subsidiaries as described above.
To that end, we are inviting
a handful of CIOs and senior executives for an all-expenses paid,
exploratory trip to India later this year. During the trip, we will
visit the offshore
centres of Indian-based units of several major multinationals as well as meet with Indian
technology companies, industry
group leaders, academics and the British
and German ambassadors to India. We will also have a presentation by
the
Chief Minister of the State of Punjab, as well as by the
Head of NASSCOM
(National Association of Software
and Services Companies).
