Event: EVCA Symposium
Date: 2- 4 June
Location: Berlin
URL: www.evca-specials.com/symposium04
Berlin - symbol of
reunification and hope for an expanded European Community - will host the
19th EVCA Symposium, Europe's leading event for the private equity industry.
Following the destruction and division of Europe and its subsequent
reconstruction, Berlin has now regained its place as the capital of Europe's
largest economy. The visible effects of the reunification of Germany are all
around us: new buildings with stunning architecture, renewed buildings such
as the wonderful conference centre in Bauhaus style where the Symposium will
take place, and a new confidence in the future.
The mood at last year's Vienna Symposium reflected the uncertainties which
the European venture capital industry was facing: write-downs and write-offs
in portfolio companies, the inability to exit, difficulties in fundraising
and so on. Now we look forward to 2005 with signs of an upturn to be seen in
many of the countries in both the old and the new Europe.
IPO markets have revived after a long period of inactivity and although this
recovery is still fragile it will provide those exits required by investors.
The venture capital industry's share of merger and acquisition activity has
never been higher.
Overseas investors are confirming their interest in Europe where both funds
raised and funds invested surpass the United States for the first time ever.
Over 900 delegates are expected to attend the 2004 EVCA Symposium to
exchange views on the direction in which the industry is going and the
various pressures that we are facing.
Tremplin Entreprises 2004
Date: July 6th & 7th, 2004
Place: Paris, at the French Senate
Save the date
for the sixth edition of France's premier Venture Capital event, "Tremplin
Entreprises," co-organized by the French Senate and ESSEC Business School.
Furthermore, the week of July 5th is "Paris Investors' Week," an
annual series of events designed to inform the French and international
investment communities of the latest opportunities available in the French
market.
Get global. With deep reservoirs of High Tech, Biotech, and
Engineering talent, France offers fertile fields for foreign investment. The
relatively modest size of its Private Equity sector helps to explain why an
approximated 40% of French companies are funded by international
investors. In turn, the government has responded by creating special
incentives for those seeking to invest from abroad.
Success in Venture Capital is as much about finding the right
project as it is about finding the right partner with which to
invest. Tremplin Entreprises facilitates on both these fronts, providing an
intimate setting where serious investors and high-potential start-ups,
pre-selected by an independent committee of venture professionals, can come
together.
Join Tremplin Entreprises for this unparalleled investment opportunity and
to gather insight from its bevy of prominent speakers. EVCA's
immediate past chairman, Jean-Bernard Schmidt will contribute to the
roundtable discussion on France's attractiveness in the Technologies sector.
* 660 euros: Registration includes luncheons and cocktails at the
