NAVIO EXPANDS EXECUTIVE TEAM
Rights-Based Commerce Company Poised for Rapid Growth
Executive Team Expanded with Key Industry Leaders

CUPERTINO, Calif., December 22, 2005 – Navio Systems, Inc. (www.navio.com), the leading provider of rights-based commerce solutions, today announced the expansion of its’ executive staff, including the addition of Ray Schaaf, as chief operating officer.  As part of his responsibilities, Ray will direct the company’s sales and marketing, professional services, support, legal, finance, and operations departments.  Over his distinguished career in mobile, wireless gaming, e-commerce, security, and digital content technologies, Ray has held executive management positions in the United States, Asia and Europe.  Most recently he was president of publishing at Glu Mobile (previously Sorrent), and president of Intershop, where he oversaw the Americas and APAC operations, managing both operations to profitability. Prior to that, he was CEO and president of XMARC, launching the first location-based application deployed on a public wireless network. He has also held global management positions at Veritas Software, NeXT Computers and Ziff Davis. Ray reports directly to Stefan Roever, the company’s CEO and founder, and is based in the Cupertino, California company headquarters,

The Navio executive management team includes the following:

Kevin Collins, SVP of engineering, has extensive background architecting and implementing complex, highly secure, distributed systems.  Past positions include his role as national director for enterprise security at Experio Solutions Corporation (a Hitachi company), and senior management positions with Motorola Wireless Data Group and Ernst & Young. Prior to Navio, he was co-founder and CTO for NetReliance, Inc. developing leading edge security and trust services for supply chain management.
Eric Kintzer, VP of products, is responsible for the strategic direction of Navio’s products and solutions.  Eric brings deep expertise in enterprise-class software and services, including mobile commerce and payment systems technologies. He was previously CTO and VP of engineering at Blaze Software, VP of product management at Corticon Technologies, and VP of technical architecture at AMS (now CGI-AMS).
Julie Welch Shenkman, VP of marketing, is a marketing veteran with expertise in e-commerce, web and internet, for both consumer and enterprise markets.  She was most recently VP of marketing for Grand Central Communications, a web-based application integration provider.  She was previously VP of marketing for NBC Internet/Snap.com, Fabrik Communications (sold to Critical Path), Zaplet, and Softbank/Ziff-Davis, and held senior marketing positions at NeXT Computers, and U.S. West Information Systems. 

Steve Madeira, VP of operations, leads Navio’s world-class operations team. Prior to Navio, he provided I.T. expertise and services for start-up companies. Before that, he ran operations for ePeople, a leading hosted software provider, where he designed and implemented the entire commercial 24x7 infrastructure. Prior to ePeople, he was the VP of global IT for a business group within Philips Electronics, and has held both technical and sales positions at Siemens, IBM and ROLM.

Jett Winter, SVP of corporate development, has eighteen years of CEO experience, spanning five Silicon Valley companies. Through his long-running consulting business, he has worked with companies such as Business Resource Group (Business Services), BayWeb (Software Consulting), LifeMap Communications (Benefits Software), PostX Corporation (Secure E-Mail), IBM (Software Development) and United Technologies (Software Development).  Jett holds a BA in economics from U.C., Santa Cruz and an MBA from Boston University.

Glenn Weisberger, SVP and general counsel, has deep expertise in the entertainment industry.  Glenn oversees legal and corporate development initiatives for the company. Prior to Navio he was the COO and general counsel for independent film production company Black Sky Entertainment. Previously he was CEO of Peer2Media, Inc., executive VP, general counsel, and CFO for The Harvey Entertainment Company, and VP of legal and business affairs for Universal Television and Networks Group.

Paul Tocatlian, worldwide professional services and support, has over 18 years of information technology experience.  Paul leads Navio’s customer implementation initiatives, as well as customer support.  He most recently managed channel and partner organizations at Bytemobile and Propel Software. Paul's career includes professional services management and software engineering positions with BEA, Novell and Bell Labs. Paul holds a masters degree in computer science from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the American University of Paris.
