Ariadne Capital, the European venture capital group, has announced the appointment of Lionel T Anthony,
the founder of buy-out giant Cinven, to its board of directors.

He brings a substantial level of experience of the private equity industry to the group, having established the
venture capital facility for the Coal Board Pension Funds, which later became Cinven.

He also founded Causeway Capital in 1983, which was eventually sold to ABN AMRO bank after raising nine
funds with a total value of $500m.

The firm was upbeat about having such an experienced professional on board.

‘I am thrilled to have attracted Lionel Anthony, one of the UK venture capital industry’s founding fathers, to
Ariadne Capital’s board of directors and to have him join our private investor network,’ said Julie Meyer,
chief executive officer and founder of Ariadne Capital.

Anthony will be based in the Brussels office.
