A new peer-to-peer gaming platform that enables players to enjoy house odds
is to launch this month on Lycos and Lastminute.com.
BeTheDealer, developed by Casino Village on Net, will go live on the
portals later this month, offering customers the chance either to compete
as a player or as the house.
Developed after software research by graduates from Israel’s leading
technology institution, the Technion, the system was created in a bid to
develop software different to the existing gambling sites online.
The company will generate revenue through charging a commission based on a
fraction of the money being transacted through the game, and has been
helped in brokering its UK deals by Ariadne Capital.
“The online gaming industry is maturing and gaining credibility –
BeTheDealer is another inflection,” said Julie Meyer, CEO Ariadne
Capital.
“BeTheDealer blends breakthrough technology of an ICQ with the viral
peer-to-peer distribution of a Napster. Casino Village is poised to be to
gaming what eBay is to auctions.”
The new betting system comes after the success of P2P sports betting site
Betfair, with P2P betting transactions tipped by some as the most
significant development for punters in more than two centuries.
The BeTheDealer system allows players to take part in regular online casino
games but, when they have accumulated sufficient credit, allows them to
take over as dealer for the other players participating.
