LONDON --
Ariadne Capital, a European venture group that advises and invests in early stage companies,
said it has appointed Lionel Anthony, to its board as a non-executive director.

He also joins a group of 24 private individual "investor members" that invest in Ariadne. Others include Martin Velasco,
former board member of Spain’s largest phone company Telefonica, and Candace Johnson, founder of Europe’s largest
satellite operator Societe Europeenne des Satellites ASTRA SA.

Mr. Anthony established the in-house venture capital facility for the Coal Board Pension Funds, which later spun out as
Cinven, a provider of private equity for large European buyouts.

He also founded venture capital firm Causeway Capital Group in 1983 and later sold the firm to ABN AMRO bank in 1996.
By that time Causeway had raised nine funds totaling nearly $500 million.

Mr. Anthony served as chairman of the British Venture Capital Association in 1987 and 1988, and as chairman of the
management buy-out/management buy-in committee of the European Venture Capital Association in Brussels.

At Ariadne, Mr. Anthony will work out of the firm's Brussels location. Ariadne CEO Julie Meyer said Mr. Anthony will
play an integral role in helping the company implement its business plan. "Lionel founded the venture capital industry
in the U.K," she said. "He'll be a close adviser to me and help us get the business to the next level. We're 18 months
into a five-year plan."

Ms. Meyer said the firm plans to add more non-executive directors to the board. There are currently four directors in total.

Ms. Meyer, founder of First Tuesday, co-founded Ariadne in December 2000 along with Bundeep Singh Rangar. They were
joined by Senia Rapisarda in early 2001.

Ms. Meyer said Ariadne assists companies in gaining capital, sales, and talent. The firm helps companies scale across
Europe by taking advantage of Ariadne's investors' and professionals' international relationships.

Ariadne portfolio companies include F.I.T., which develops personal information management applications; and tenUK,
a lifestyle and home-management service provider.
